Composer Note:

This piano-vocal selection of songs showcases an important story arc from the first act of The Yeti Operetti, an upcoming operetta with libretto by Roger Porres.

Dr. Declan Deacon’s Zoological Zone has financial troubles, and he hopes to impress the wealthy patroness Dory Dore enough that she will fund the place indefinitely. Unfortunately, when Dr. Deacon praises his assistant Calvin Cohler as an upstanding bachelor (in "A Bachelor's a Brute"), Dory is alarmed; she distrusts bachelors and refuses to fund the Zone until Calvin is married.

To Dr. Deacon’s amazement, a group of tourists arrives at that very moment, one of whom is Charlotte Hancast, a sincere fan of Calvin’s work and, more importantly, single. Charlotte and Calvin fall in love almost immediately (in "When Scholars Speak of Love") despite, or because of, Dr. Deacon’s eccentric courtship advice, and the pair quickly decide to be married (in "The Pros and Cons of Matrimony" and "The Awkward Man I Choose").

The selection concludes as the group prepares an impromptu wedding (in "The Walrus Rings"), and all seems to be in order. In fact, while The Yeti Operetti will have many more challenges in store for its characters, the love demonstrated in this selection is sure to overcome every obstacle.
